Inspired by the Bell X-1, the first plane to break the sound barrier, the Big Crown X1 Calculator refers to this era when flight plans were still made using slide rules, and accentuates this unique mechanism. Its rotating bezel serves to adjust the slide rule and to calculate fuel consumption for a given flight time, while the caseback displays a m/ft conversion table for international use. The chronograph push-pieces bear the X and 1, like a last nod to the date of the historical feat accomplished at 10:18 on October 14th 1947

The new RM 010 Black Night Limited Edition will be soon available at all authorized RM retailers in Europe, CIS, Middle East and Africa.

An adaptation of the original RM 010, the RM 10 Black Night features a unique "All Black" DLC treatment of the case thus creating a striking new contrast with the red dial ring. This limited edition RM 010 comes on a black rubber strap complete with a black DLC-treated buckle yet again confirming Richard Mille's devotion to the use of innovative materials.

Under its case the RM 010 Black Night boasts a skeletonized caliber RM 005 automatic-winding movement with an integrated variable-geometry rotor, an exclusive Richard Mille concept which allows the automatic winding to adapt to the wearer's activity.

Each watch is assembled and finished entirely by hand: the barrel-shaped casing alone requires 202 distinct factory operations. The watch's design and construction are the result of an overall approach encompassing movement, casing and face.

Zenith El Primero Tourbillon Watch

In Switzerland these days, you could count on one hand the number of watchmakers capable of constructing it. So, a “homemade tourbillon” is a sure sign that the company possesses and masters watchmaking know-how. ZENITH is no longer content to resolve just one difficulty, no matter how complex it may be. Zenith's tourbillon is combined with a chronograph calibre with a calendar – another watchmaking complication – and a high frequency, a third challenge. It is the only watch on the market with such a complex mechanism, aiming to attain the most precise chronometric performance possible.

This tourbillon is unique in more than one way: it shows off its rotating carriage in the upper left-hand part of the dial, including a built-in calendar. This asymmetry aesthetically highlights the tourbillon’s mechanism, visible through an opening in the dial, while maintaining fine proportions and elegant lines. The date is displayed – in a patented system – by means of a disk around the circumference of the carriage. The El Primero chronograph’s automatic calibre is the heart of the movement. While the high frequency assigned to this exceptional motor generates greater precision, it also demands increased power. To protect performance, ZENITH designers have developed an in-line escapement that shifts the balance spring to the outer edge of the rotating carriage. The result is a tourbillon and a high-frequency automatic chronograph with over 50 hours of power reserve. The calibre is composed of 381 components, including 67 for the rotating carriage. Yet, it is barely 1 mm thicker than the original El Primero.

The tourbillon comes in two models: steel or rose gold, with counters at three and six o’clock. The seconds hand in the tourbillon carriage rotates with it in 60 seconds. A true mechanical masterpiece and a technical exploit, to date, the ZENITH tourbillon is the only one to beat at a high frequency, with a quarter more vibrations of its balance than other constructions. Let us examine the unique characteristics of the ZENITH tourbillon. The case’s middle is formed using a double stamping process, which creates one curve at a time along the length and depth. The olivette makes it easier to grasp the crown. The magic of the calibre in movement can be seen through the Sapphire glass. So, if you love chronometric feats, you are going to adore this watchmaking creation.

Breguet Introduces the Queen of Naples 8967ST

The Reine de Naples is a watch in a league of its own. Created in tribute to the wristwatch ordered two centuries ago from Breguet by Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, it embodies the inimitable Breguet approach to fine watch making. Its softly curving egg-shaped case, its crown at 4 o'clock and its dedicated bracelet ball-lug are all distinctive characteristics composing a model as feminine as it is original. These signature features also endow it with enviable iconic status, judging by the worldwide success it has enjoyed since its launch.

It now appears in a steel version that is also slightly larger.

For a timepiece that has only thus far existed in gold set with diamonds, this new version is a means of drawing closer to the everyday lives of women who can thus wear it daily and in all circumstances. However, this concession to modern times has been made without sacrificing one iota of its exquisite refinement. The Reine de Naples in steel maintains all the subtle details that make it such an emblematic model: the delightfully curving feminine case with fluted caseband, the off-set crown, and the ball-lug at 6 o'clock securing it to the alligator leather strap.
